Re: Concert Listings
the show at bowery ballroom was beyond anything i'd ever seen. the setlist was amazing, the band was tight, she played brazilian for me and even gave me a shout out cuz i was in her video. all around amazing show. the opening act was pretty cool. the girl's name was syndey wayser and her band was very uniquely interesting.
here's a pic my friend audrey took from a little farther away. i was right up front and center.

a pic i took of sydney wayser's band (shame i didnt get the guy playing the toys in the picture)

Re: Bowery Ballroom
Hey eric, did you happen to write down the set list from that show? I was there too but I totally forgot to! Also, do you know what that German metal song she closed with is called, or who the artist is?
Re: Concert Listings
i was also at that bowery ballroom show. i left after she came back for an encore because i had to be at work really early the next day. the cover she played was from the german band Bubonix. She's been playing 'Fashion Tattoo' at almost every gig.

Re: Concert Listings
What song is "Brazilian"? It's not a Kaki King song is it? I don't remember her playing it. You don't mean the Genesis song, do you?
Also: When did she do that Dune thing?

Re: Concert Listings
brazilian is an out take from ...until we felt red and it's on itunes. its my favourite guitar piece. she wrote a while ago and usually plays it. it wasnt meant to be played this tour, but since i called it out, she played it.
and the dune thing was done right after jessica i believe.

Re: Concert Listings
Kaki is playing at Baruch College in Manhattan (in New York) on May 29th. I believe it will be outdoors.
EDIT: this will be indoors in one of the performance halls. can't wait.

Re: Concert Listings
holy shit holy shit holy shit holy shit that show was beyond amazing. it was kaki, dan, and matt--an amazing trio! anywho, the set was amazing and they did two encores and on the second one they played a 10 minute improv with kaki on drums, matt on the stomp box and electric drum pad, and dan on EVI. They also played the b-side 'zeitgeist'. IT WAS FLAWLESS.
I also got to hang out with kaki on a couch in the reception area after the show for 15 minutes and we had a really cool exchange. it was really great and she showed some interest in the record im working on. she's such an awesome person to be around, really!
ill post the picture i took tomorrow cuz my phone is DEAD. and i took a short video on it too. i wish i brought my camera to this one. it was a one of a kind show.

Re: Concert Listings
Wow, sounded like a great show, I wish I lived in NY.
Anyway, Kaki King is going to play in San Francisco, CA on August 23rd as part of the Outside Lands Festival (Tom Petty is playing the same day as Kaki; so that's another great band to go see). So, if you live in SF or near SF (like me), there's the next Kaki gig in SF. Who knows, maybe she'll come out here before that.
I was going to go to the March 25th show at the Great American Music Hall but I couldn't since I was on vacation elsewhere in the States. Good thing edmann taped the show so I got it all on my iPod.
