Re: Things I Like
i know its corporate, but it still has great coffee! and that's what its all about
the first time i went to a starbucks was when i was in london (I LIKE LONDON!) last February.
and fleet foxes are totally famous even my sister knows them (and she knows NOTHING about music) and i also like their cd
i also like knowing bands before everyone else starts listening to them!

Re: Things I Like
i know they're super famous. i just started to listen to them just before they blew up where i am. although, NYC is probably a little ahead of michigan/ohio (dunno where belgium fits into the picture). i'm sort of joking anyways, haha--i don't mean to sound like a music or coffee snob. i like starbucks iced tea...and frappacinos. although i hate trying to spell frappacinos. don't judge.
back to fleet foxes. i think the album's pretty solid. but i've listened to it enough that it's lost its magic for the time being. that's really why i love KK. she's so versatile that once if i ever get tired of the more complex acoustic stuff, i can listen to the live version of yellowcake w/ the band, or day sleeper, or mexican teenagers, etc, etc,....i really don't understand how she is so versatile, but still maintains a sort of voice...

Re: Things I Like
yeah, that's what i like about kaki too, she makes music for every mood. i haven't listened to the fleet foxes album all that much, so i'm not tired of it jet.
and belgium is small, it used to be a month or two that we were behind on you guys with music, but nowadays its a week or so if you listen to the radio. but the internet makes life so much better for us music geeks

Re: Things I Like
i don't know that either, i almost never listen to the radio and when i do i listen to a more alternative station. but sometimes when i'm in a store or so and i hear the music i think OMFG what is this shit?!? and than when you hear the people of the show talk, they say that its nr.1 on some kind of hit list and i've never heard of it and wouldn't have mind it if i never knew it existed!
that's why i like the internet, you can find new stuff that isn't famous and try to get your friends to listen to it!
and what is it with sisters, do all sisters have a bad taste in music or at least more mainstream? LOL!

Re: Things I Like
i hope the exam went well.
i have my first exam tomorrow afternoon, and its french so its going to suck. i hate french, i know the basics but thats all. problem is we need to know more than just the basics. so i already know i'm going to fail.
i think we can just say that radio sucks everywhere in the world, but maybe not all the time. there is one more reason i sometimes listen to that "alternative" radio station. i heard kaki on it one time, it was on a sunday night when i was lying in bed, i was so surprised and naturally i turned the radio louder. they played "can anyone who heard this music really be a bad person". i was still happy about that on monday morning. they even had an interview with her but i never heard it because the links are dead, which sucks!
and to everyone who has a sister or brother with bad taste in music, try to change that, so you don't have to get headaches for having to listen it too. i'm trying, but i thinks its too late. my sister is older than me!

Re: Things I Like
my sister is older too. idk, you like what you like. if pop music and r&b is what gets her going, i don't really care. i have headphones and my own room, so i'm good.
i've never heard KK on the radio. we have college radio, and i guess that's pretty much the closest you'll get to an indie or alternative station here...

Re: Things I Like
mixed feelings about the dresden dolls. i got their first album when i was like 14, and even then i was ambivalent. it's like some of the music was cool, but then at the same time, some of it was just too emo, haha. emo-haters might even annoy me more than emo kids, but still...they were just a little much for me. i haven't listened to anything more recent though really, so i can't really say much more about it. i still love girl anachronism though!

Re: Things I Like
the dresden dolls and amanda plamer are awesome, you should really listen to some other stuff.
but i can understand that you don't like them. amanda palmer writes very emotional songs that is true, thats kinda why i like the music and of course the way the music and the lyrics fit together. and seeing her play live is also amazing (i haven't seen the dresden dolls, but i imagine it similar to the solo shows)
one of my friends got me into the dresden dolls and amanda palmer.
you should listen to guitar hero, leeds united, runs in the family, oasis all of these are from "who killed amanda palmer".
"no, virginia" is better than "yes, virginia" in my opinion, but the first one is still the best one!
but its just kinda hard to pick songs from the records.

yes, virginia (their second album) is fantastic. i don't really listen to the first album that much. i really love their later work. and amanda palmer is amazing. one of the greatest artists of our time. have you seen 'with the needle that sings in her heart'? amazing.
